Located in an unmistakable blue building with pink trim, Hot Sauce Williams is a well-known Cleveland barbecue restaurant that specializes in soul food and barbecue. The landmark eatery was featured on Food Network’s “No Reservations” with Anthony Bordain in 2009. The menu features classic barbecue items such as po-boy sandwiches, barbecued ribs, brisket, pulled pork, chicken, macaroni and cheese, collard greens and everything else soul. Barbecued items are slow-smoked in the restaurant’s huge smoker to make them extra tender. Hot Sauce Williams is open Sunday through Thursday from 1 p.m. to 2 a.m. and Friday and Saturday from noon to 4 a.m.

Located about 20 minutes from downtown, Bubba’s Q is a locally owned restaurant in Avon. The interior of the place is Southern-inspired and comfortable, with a warm atmosphere and casual feel. The menu includes both dry-rubbed and sticky-sauced barbecued ribs, chicken, smoked pork, turkey, beef brisket and pulled pork sandwiches complete with smoky sauce and cool coleslaw. Fried corn, macaroni and cheese, green beans, collard greens and sweet potatoes are available as sides. Bubba’s Q is open Tuesday through Thursday from 11:30 a.m. to 9 p.m., Friday from 11:30 a.m. to 10 p.m., Saturday from noon to 10 p.m. and Sunday from noon to 8 p.m.
