Season 8 winner Kris Allen revisited the Idol stage to sing his new song “The Vision Of Love”.  Party Rockers LMFAO were next up singing “Sorry For Party Rocking”, which kinda reminded me of the Beastie Boys “Fight For Your Right To Party” with the video they played at the beginning.  Side note, I want that zebra at my next party.

Ryan Seacrest paid tribute to his icon Dick Clark, who passed away yesterday at the age of 82 from a heart attack.  It was exactly what you would expect from Seacrest, an overdubbed tribute of facts and his experiences playing over a fitting montage of Clark’s life in the music and entertainment industry.

Let’s get to the results, Hollie and Joshua were the first to learn their fate, America’s vote sent Hollie to the bottom 3 and Joshua to safety.  Skylar and Elise were next up, the critique of these two put Skylar up as the front runner for safety.  That is exactly how the votes panned out as Elise was sent to the bottom 3 with Hollie.   Phillip, Colton and Jessica were next to take center stage and hear the results of last night’s huge vote, the biggest of the season.  Jessica learned first that the judges save was put to good use, she was safe.  Colton was the next to go to the bottom 3, Phillip was safe.

Randy, your turn, did America get it right?  He passed the buck this time, just saying he is on pins and needles with the bottom 3 of Hollie, Elise and Colton.  Ryan told Elise to sit down on the couches with the rest of the safe contestants.  So it is down to Colton and Hollie to continue their American Idol adventure but it was Colton whose Idol journey ended.

Well, there goes my American Idol prediction, I really thought Colton would win this.  It is back to the drawing board for me.  Here is what I think, this year we need a female pop singer to win.  Maybe this was a good thing for the American Idol franchise.  Now I have to decide out of Hollie, Skylar, Elise and Jessica, who I want to win.  I think I am still going with Elise despite the hard criticism she has received.

Rihanna made the list for the first time ever and Oprah got dropped for the first time. There are a lot of first’s going on here, but I’m thinking Oprah is none too pleased about hers. Time started its 100 Most Influential People list in 1999. Until this year’s list, Winfrey had been the only person to appear each and every year—Time made the list annual starting in 2004—an honor not achieved by even Steve Jobs.

Hard Rock International and Milstein Entertainment unveiled plans for a $275 million gaming and entertainment development complex to be built at the racetrack Wednesday afternoon.

The proposed project will include a Hard Rock branded gaming center, Hard Rock Cafe, steakhouse, as well as a center bar, buffet and conference and meeting space.

“We are thrilled to be working with Milstein Entertainment and the Northfield Park team on this project,” Jim Allen, Chairman of Hard Rock International said. “We look forward to bringing the renowned Hard Rock brand to Northfield Park, as the Hard Rock Gaming and Entertainment Facility would be a state-­of‐the‐art venue, providing world class entertainment experiences that are unique to the region to complement he local community and its surroundings.”

The Hard Rock gaming and entertainment facility would be developed as part of the existing Northfield Park Racetrack in Northfield, Ohio and be built next to the existing grandstand.

“Being from Northeast Ohio, I take great pride in the region and the partners we choose to bring here,” Brock Milstein, Chairman and CEO, Northfield Park and Milstein Entertainment said. “Given the impressive history of the Hard Rock brand and its reputation for developing fun and unique experiences around the world, we couldn’t have chosen a better global brand to develop and operate this venue.”

While specific laws governing the gaming aspect of the facility are ironed out in the legislature, the slots-only racino will include 2,500 machines – the maximum allowed by Ohio law.

An agreement with the state, which was reached last year by the owners of the four full gaming casinos, Rock Gaming and Penn National, cleared the way for video lottery terminals or VLTs at the state’s seven horse racing tracks – including Northfield.

A $50 million licensing fee must be paid by the track to the state and a minimum of $150 million must be invested into the facility, which Northfield’s plan exceeds by far.

Developers say they anticipate the project will generate nearly 1,000 temporary construction jobs as well as 1,000 permanent positions.

The development also provides the flexibility for future expansion including a hotel which is has yet to be planned but is a long term goal Milstein said.

Allen said that Hard Rock’s downtown Cleveland location will not be affected by the new development and the cafe will remain open for the foreseeable future.

A number of broadcasters tweeted their respect to the man who revolutionized the profession: Caron Daly, a TV and radio host from AMP in Los Angeles, who was close with Clark (and had a New Year’s TV special that rivaled Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve) offered this statement: “We lost an icon today. I will always cherish the personal time we had together. I am forever indebted to Dick Clark and his legacy. My heart goes out to his family.”

Danny Bonaduce from KZOK in Seattle offered this on the station’s website: “My mother and father were great friends with Dick Clark, so I’ve actually known him since before I was born. My grandfather gave him his very first job. It was on the radio in Philadelphia. Dick Clark gave me my first job when I was 2 years old in a television commercial. We stayed in contact for his entire life. People always remember his talent, but I will always remember his loyalty. I will also remember the fact that he beat me at a push-up contest when he was 74 years old. He was much loved and will be missed.” He tweeted an abridged version:
